Assistant Controller

Do you have strong financial skills and do you consider it a challenge to make sure that all national and international accounts are in order?

As an Assistant Controller you support the Finance Manager. Your range of tasks will be broad and diverse, from checking and booking purchase invoices, to setting up project administration, to digitising and optimising reports. Marktlink is growing rapidly, with new offices being added both at home and abroad. As a result, our merger and acquisition projects with SME entrepreneurs are becoming increasingly international.


At present, the finance department consists of four colleagues. Together, they support the seven offices in the Netherlands and abroad. No two days are the same at Marktlink; roughly, you can expect the following tasks:

  • Co-ordinate payment schedules
  • Monitor general ledger and check suspense accounts
  • Carry out internal checks
  • Compile, or support in compiling reports and schedules
  • Prepare financial analyses
  • Monitor the planning and control cycles for all offices in the Netherlands and other countries
  • Prepare turnover tax return
  • Generate, check and send sales invoices in Exact
  • Consult managers and legal counsels about invoicing with respect to project closings
  • Accounts receivable management (send reminders in Exact, contact debtors and co-ordinate with collection agency)
  • Check (contracts, orders, authorisations employees) and booking purchase invoices in Exact via Basecone
  • Contacts with creditors
  • Enter new orders in Exact (set up project and accounts receivable administration)

Job requirements

You have experience in this field of work and you are looking for a diverse range of tasks. You are eager to get things done, you are able to switch quickly between different tasks, you are a team worker and you like to support your colleagues. You are a stickler for details, well-versed in figures, but have good communication skills as well. 

To make this job a success, we expect you to meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of three years of recent experience
  • A college degree, preferably in Finance & Control
  • Experience in keeping project accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable and payroll records
  • Up-to-date knowledge of financial reports and automation
  • Experience with Exact Online and AFAS would be preferred
  • A good command of the Dutch and English languages
  • An affinity with SMEs and entrepreneurship
